Great White Throne

“Revelation 20:11 – “And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.”

Jesus Christ, the Redeemer and Judge, is the LION of the Tribe of Judah—from which the world flees. Both those on earth and in the glory of heaven (sun, moon, and stars) will cease forevermore. In other words, both men, women, and creation will no longer exist as they have since the beginning.

But something is interesting: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war… And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called the Word of God” (Rev. 19:11, 13). This is none other than Jesus Christ! And what will the unrighteous do? It’s not something that might be supposed to be. Will that group surrender to God Omnipotent and lay down their rebellion against the Lord’s Anointed? Oh no, they dig in to fight the Lamb, the Word of God, upon His white horse. “Their armies (the people, both small and great, both free and bond) gathered together against Him that sat on the horse” (Rev 19:18). The Word of God, the righteous Judge who seeks vengeance upon the wicked for their hatred against God, His holiness, and the Son. These are those previously described; they are “workers of iniquity” (Lk. 13:27) and despise the Lord of Glory. Those in opposition to Christ are the “dead” who stand before Him at the great judgment, and “they were judged every man according to their works” (Rev. 20:13). Notice how they were judged, by what they manifested – showing who they are and what they did.

Revelation 14:14-20 – What Precedes the Great White Throne? And what follows?

As mentioned, the judicial separation! Jesus Christ again is seen on His throne and called “the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.” – There is no doubt of more colorful language depicting what we first read in Matthew’s account of the wheat and tares, and the final judgment of the sheep and goats, it is the harvest at the end of the world as Jesus fulfills one more predicted ministry; judgment. How clear is this? How is the judgment of the quick and the dead?

And where does the Judge cast the dead? “Into the great winepress of the wrath of God.” If God the Father judged His own Son…for your sin, how much sorer is the punishment for the sin of the dead? See the distinction? Between the blessed “dead which die in the Lord” (Rev. 14:13) and others marked as “dead, small and great, stand before God.” These are those yet “in Adam” who “were judged out of those things which were written in the books” (Rev. 20:12). (Note: John writes it as though it already has happened or as in the present tense occurring.) Who are they again? “the dead” outside of Christ. It is crucial to understand that nowhere in Scripture are the wicked so loved as Universalists assert in their make-believe doctrines. They do not speak on God’s behalf. Prophets of old spoke truth with often bitter weeping, and men like David, who says, “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off” (Ps. 37:38,39). The Bible doesn’t mince words, and judgment will be a bitterness of the soul, even as John experienced it by eating the book and consuming the words of judgment (cf. Rev. 10:9,10).”
