Elder W.T. Clifton

Elder Clifton was born on September 20, 1899. He married Lizzie Ruth Cochran in 1922, and fathered six living children. Elder Clifton joined Dan River Church in Vesta, VA September 27, 1936. His wife followed in 1939. They moved their membership to Indian Creek in Floyd County in April 1949 for the purpose of sending an arm to establish a church in Roanoke, VA. Mt. Olive Church in Roanoke was organized May 24, 1947.
Elder Clifton was given liberty to speak at Mt. Olive Church on December 2, 1950. He was ordained October 30, 1954.
Elder Clifton was chosen assistant moderator at New Hope Church in Carroll County in May 1954, joint moderator with Elder Nester at Panther Creek Church (later Green Hill Memorial Church) in August 1955. He was chosen joint moderator with Elder Jethroe Harris at Mt. Olive Church in December 1956, and served as moderator for several years after Elder Harris resigned. Elder Clifton and his wife were members at Puckett Memorial at the time of his death December 21,1982 at the age of 82.

Prior to him being an ordained elder, William Clifton donated the land for Mt. Olive and he and 3 of his brothers built the meeting house. His daughter Rhoda Kemp is a member at the time of this edit. (March 2010)

Elder James Compton (1905 - 2007)
Elder James Compton was the original founder of the 'Gospel of Grace Tape Supply.' His collection of tapes began as he traveled to Church meetings and Associations recording sermons on Reel to Reel. He has maintained this library of sermons faithfully over the years and are now the foundation of PB Sermons. org. This web site is dedicated to Elder James Compton (1905 - 2007)
